Tha Hip Hop Olympics is a collaborative competition with events forged by the Ten Elements of Hip Hop. They are DJing, EMCEEing, BREAKDANCING, GRAFFITI, BEAT BOXING, STREET FASHION, STREET LANGUAGE, STREET ENTREPRENEURSHIP, STREET KNOWLEDGE and SELF DEFENSE. Participants will compete for a Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal in each of these ten events on May 23rd and 24th, 2025.
Round 1: Just Blaze
All participating DJ's will have to create a 3 to 6 song set that would get tha most engagement at a cookout.
Round 2: Swizz Beats
All participating DJ's will have to battle another DJ mono y mono with 60 seconds per turn.
Round 1: Cassidy: 16 Bars
All participating Emcee's must be ready to deliver your coldest 16 bars.
Round 2: D-Block: Versuz
All participating Emcee's will prepare a 3-song set which will be performed in a back-and-forth style battle with another Emcee to see who has the better range.
Round 1: Rock Steady
All participating B-boys/girls will freestyle battle for 2 minutes in groups of 3, 4 or 5.
Round 2: Stomp Tha Yard
All participating B-boys/girls will have to create your own team routine to see who has the best moves in 3 minutes.
Round 1: Heru Gallery
All participating Bombers will create a graffiti work using spray paint, pencil or paintbrush that symbolizes the highest version of themselves.
Round 2: Vision Board
All participating Bombers will create a graffiti work using spray paint, pencil or paintbrush that symbolizes the highest form of their community.
Round 1: Savion
All participating Beat Boxers will either beat box or pen tap for one to two minutes a rhythm we have never heard before.
Round 2: Hit Tha Dougie Fresh
All participating Beat Boxers will have to split into beat boxing ad pen tapping rhythm teams and compete against each other for two to three minutes.
Round 1: Tab Tha Table Up
All participating Fashion Teams will have to set up their merchandise in a marketplace to see which brand has the most juice.
Round 2: Runway Models
All participating Fashion Teams will have to prepare 6-10 models to be judged on tha runway to see who has tha freshest threads.
Round 1: Spelling G
All participating Linguists will have to take turns defining different Hip Hop Lingo.
Round 2: Anansi
All participating Linguists will have to prepare a one-page story to read aloud that uses tha most descriptive and creative Hip Hop phrases, terminology and lingo.
Round 1: Shark Tank
All participating Entrepreneurs will participate in a Shark Tank competition.
Round 2: Shark Tank Pt. 2
All participating Entrepreneurs (the top 6 remaining) will have to pitch their business idea to a second round of investors to see who has tha best idea.
Round 1: Ten Toes Down
All participating Edutainers will prepare a 10-slide presentation on a topic of their choice.
Round 2: Knowledge Reigns Supreme
All participating Edutainers will have five to 10 minutes to display a presentation on how our community can achieve sovereign status.
Round 1: Samson Fitness Test
All participating Warriors will prepare to undergo a fitness cypher that contains push-ups, planks, pull-ups and other challenges.
Round 2: Samson & Delilah
All participating Warriors will have to undergo another fitness cypher that culminates in a paintball accuracy battle.
At its roots, Hip Hop aspires to uplift creative individuals from diverse backgrounds into a united, peaceful, and fun-loving collaborative community. In order to positively impact the state of the world, healthy competition of the arts, hearts and mind will elevate our culture into the future.
Every Memorial Day Weekend, Tha Hip Hop Olympics curates an opportunity for talents and resources to be showcased towards that goal. Utilizing the Ten Elements of Hip Hop - DJing, EMCEEing, BREAKDANCING, GRAFFITI, BEAT BOXING, STREET FASHION, STREET LANGUAGE, STREET ENTREPRENEURSHIP, STREET KNOWLEDGE, and SELF DEFENSE; participants will compete for Gold, Silver, or a Bronze medal in each of these ten events.
Throughout Tha Hip Hop Olympics, competitors are empowered to develop revolutionary systems of change in their community while fostering a love for cooperative economics.
Inspired by the seed of KRS-One’s Edutainment (education and entertainment) philosophy, Tha Hip Hop Olympics will serve as a launchpad to holistically build our village.
